H'd Qr's Post at Pulaski March 27th 1864 My dear darling wife: Your blessed little letter of the 16th inst came to hand yesterday. How thankful and rejoiced I am to know that you are getting along so splendidly. Thank God for his protecting grace, and tender care. I saw Mr Brooks to day, and he told me that he had a little daughter at home, old since the 6th inst. Said that his wife was getting along finely when he last heard from her, but that he had not heard since the day after the occurrence, and was quite uneasy. This is a most beautiful day - so warm and mild, and spring like. Wish I could spend it with you. O my own Clara I do want to be with you, to pet and caress you so much. Won't I make you so happy, if I am spared to see you again? Bless your dear dear dear heart. You are getting along so much better than I expected you to, "no fever." Well now be thankful and live very devotedly my own dear pet and God will always bless you as he has done in times past. Just two months from to day to [wave?] and then I will be at home.
