H’d Qur’s Post at Pulaski April 28th 1864 My dear darling wife:- You will excuse me for not writing regularly to you for a few days as every thing is now, and has been for a few days, bustle and confusion on account of the troops being ordered to the front. I am assigned to duty here by order of Genl Dodge, I have command of the troops guarding the Rail Road north of Elk River to Lynnville a distance of twenty five miles, and will remain here until my time is out if the good Lord spares me, I rec'd your letter of the 19th inst, and am in great suspense waiting for the letter you are sending by John [Dumith?], I wish you would be more specific in what you write, and not leave me in the dark as to what you
