This is a lovely Sabbath afternoon almost provokingly quiet though if the birds would shut their mouths & the hogs dispense with their grunt I could have peace equal to the one that is to follow the Rebellion Joe went to church this morning to hear the new preacher (I didn't go had no Spring bonnet) Came home staid for dinner & then took himself down to James Hawkins who has been on the invalid list for some time, - We have had an early Spring. The earth never looked greener, but a few nights ago there come a killing frost which deadened every thing in the fruit - line, it was very unwelcome in its visit & put an end to visions of peaches & cream with other fruit luxuries, then why mourn for that we cannot prevent - (Upside-down, at head of page:-) yo]ur feeling, on being introduced did]'nt care a fiddle stick what is the use (Vertically down, from top left:-) first impressions are always false let them be as they will
