As we were driving along we stopped opposite a little country store and quick ran in and bought a little cake and some candy. Griff and I bought a can of salmon and he ate while I drove and then drove while I ate. We came past several gas holes where they were burning the gas. Also several places where they were drilling for oil. We came through Villa Platte which was a nice little city and houses in very good shape - probably from the prosperity from the oil and gas. Part of the company got lost - including the kitchen truck so we didn't get anything to eat until 8:00 PM and then sandwiches and coffee. I've got so I can hardly stand the sight of a ham sandwich - they serve the luncheon ham cold. I got your letter on the 21st this morning during the big rain. Did you get any hickory nuts? Sounds like fall for sure. So Muriel is all excited, is she?
