H&S Co, 136th Med Regt In the field,12 mi NW Villa Platte, La APO 34, Camp Claiborne, La Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1941. Dearest Dorothea: Well, it has sprinkled and rained and drizzled most of the day so far. I am sitting in the headquarters tent writing you by candle light. The cookies came this morning. Such a fine box, and such excellent cookies. I passed them around and then left them out on the table and they were soon gone. Everyone wanted me to tell you they were very fine. I told them that was the girl I married who could bake cookies like those. Also received your letter of the 20th. Seems like almost 3 days is the quickest mail can get through. So glad you got the money from Max. That should help out considerably, shouldn' it. I do hope you stayed at home Sunday as you planned and got a good rest. You don't have much time out for yourself, so use it for yourself when you get a chance. Yes, mom is in the hospital as I previously wrote you. I haven't
