unarmed cities. We use candles at night a lot for light. We don't have electricity and only one good gasoline light. Candle light isn't so bad either. Dan went to the Clearing station (field hospital) with his ankle and hasn't been back today. I expect they will tape it and make him stay off it. Yesterday there were 18 airplanes in one flock flew over the area. On Sept 22nd, the are going to have a bombing demonstration. Nearly everyone has a mustache, chin whiskers or something of a facial adornment. Enclosed is a tin type of the old man. Pretty homely, eh, what? Did I tell you I received a very nice box of candy from Glad. Pretty nice of her. Haven't had much desire to play any chess or other games. Some of the boys in other companies are playing football. I've had a lot of interruptions so guess I 'll quit. Affectionately yours, John N.
