H & S Co, 136th Med Regt In bivouac, E of DeRidder, La APO 34, Camp Claiborne, La Sept 5, 1941 - 11:15 AM My dear Dorothea: We are still packed up but haven't moved. Seems like there is a great delay for some undisclosed reason. We slept out in the open last night-tents were all loaded on the truck. Along in the middle of the night we had a sudden shower of rain out of a perfectly clear sky, but only lasted for a few minutes and by the time everyone was awake, the shower was over. I wrote to the Inventors Syndicate for a statement of how I stand and asked them to send it thru the home address - so please forward it on when it comes. I also sent a check to pay my NY Life Ins premium of $23.88 and you can send the receipt on down when it comes. Enclosed are some things to save with my letters. I will want to go through all these things when I get home. Be sure and put them away. Are you? It's hard to get them all together if you don't put them there when you have them in mind and hand. Did you hear about the man riding on an airliner. The stewardess asked him if he would like some TWA Coffee. He said "No", but he would like some TWA Tea. Who wouldn't?
