I'll either be out by February or I'll be a Captain and in that event you and the kids can come down and live here. Captain Averill was down today and asked if I had the papers by which I made application for a commission at 2nd Lt, MAC! I told him I did. He said there might be a chance of them going through now and for me to send them in again. I told him I wasn't interested in a 2nd Lt. MAC anymore - that my application had been made 4 months ago and if I received an appointment now, I would have to serve a year longer and I couldn't afford to do it. The weather is pretty warm down here, but as we are outside and in the shade most of the time, we have a little breeze and aren't as hot as we were when we were in Clairborne.
