Dear John R: Aug. 19, 1941. I enjoyed your letter very much. I hope you like school and know that you will learn all you can. You will have to take care of Cliffie too and see that he gets across the streets all right. Did you enjoy the circus pretty good. You can see the picture of a horse drawn here. Does he look like any of the circus horses. I'll bet you had a find time down at Rankins, didn't you? And now while I am away, you will have to be the man of the house and help Mother and Ruth. You must do what do what Ruth tells you and that is the best way to help Mamma. Well, I must write Cliff and Carol a line. Be good and I'll see you soon. Your Daddy John N. Calhoun
