H&S Co, 136 Med Regt Camp Claiborne, La Aug 9, 1941 Dearest Dorothea: Well, here we are back in camp. We had Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning in the field. We got back to Camp about 10:30 and then had to catch up on all the odds and ends. I received your two boxes this morning and they came through just fine. Every one liked the candy and cookies. It has been dreadfully warm yesterday and today. No letter today. May get one yet this afternoon. Seems like we get most of our mail in the afternoon. I got your letter while out in the field and enjoyed it very much. I read it about 11:00 PM by light of the lantern. Enclosed find the Maytag clock to use or deposit as you see fit. Well, I didn't get the letter finished and it is now Sunday morning. We are getting up early as some of our men start out on the maneuver today. The rest of us go tomorrow or this afternoon. So I'll be away from camp from now on. Gee, I hope it will go quickly and without any trouble. Of course, everyone is looking forward to it with interest. It is a wonderful morning.
