H&S Co, 136th Med Regt In bivouac 2 Mi S of Nineston APO 34, Camp Claiborne, La Saturday, Sept 6, 1941. My dearest Dorothea: Well, we moved from the old bivouac yesterday after noon mess. We moved quite a long ways - 35 to 50 miles to this place, which is a little more woodsy than the other and a lot more brush. We had to set our stuff up in a "tactical" manner - as though in actual warfare. So we have to camouflage the truck and the headquarters. The night was nice and slept outside on the cot. It got pretty cool before morning. The mosquitoes didn't bother me any. The war was over at 7:00 this morning, so the rest of the day has been spent in resting, writing, playing cards, catching up on any back work. I washed three pairs of socks and also shaved and cleaned up. The order came through for the band to be brought out and for a concert Sunday. They expect us to be held here until Tuesday. So they are putting up a tent for headquarters and one for the band. We put up a pyramidal tent for us to sleep in. So we are all ready for a little rest. If they would just fix it so we could get some laundry. I am going to try & get some done some way or other.
