Mar. 15, 1943 Dearest Dorothea: I surely hope you've gotten that furnace fixed by now so you don't have to clean any more soot. You've surely had a time with that furnace. I guess maybe that is probably the greatest reason you don't like that house so much. We have been having spring weather here for a change. Our snow is all gone and the birds are chirping a little in the trees. I hope the kids take care of the kitten better than they did Winnie. They really should be taught about the responsibility of taking care of something. We had our final exam in Military Justice this morning. It was two hours long. It was terrible. Everyone thinks they failed it and if they did, then not so much to worry about. I guess there isn't any use worrying about it anyhow. I didn't go to Church Sunday but stayed home and studied. It is a whole book that we had to review and I got so tired. At Sunday dinner all the tables were filled up so Ted and I had to sit with the girls at the front table. They were asking if you got home OK and were expressing their opinions that you were so beautiful - so I guess you really rated. Also several of the men made very nice compliments about you, too.
