2-23-43 Dearest Dorothea: I'm surely pleased to know you had such a pleasant Sunday dinner and even if it cost a little bit, it was worth it and you really deserved it. Did the kids behave themselves OK. The kids here in Ann Arbor are all flying kites too and see them advertised for sale in the store windows, so it must be a national craze. What did Whit say about the rent reduction, or did he mention it? We went on a hike this afternoon and I wore a small blister on my heel, but it isn't serious. They still give us lots of work to do and limit us to three hours in which to do it. It rained some here this evening. So I guess we are approaching spring. I'm so glad Mother is feeling so much better. Not much new so will close. Love & kisses, Daddy. P.S. We had a fellow here from Washington, D.C. lecturing us on the phases of the Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act. I got two demerits for having a loose button on my overcoat and when they posted it they had it "spots on overcoat" but no use fussing about it, or they might increase it, as they do. JNC
