State Senate of Iowa DES MOINES 2-21-43 Dearest Dorothea: Thanks for the check from Consolidated Oil Corp which I have endorsed and enclose herewith. Use it on some of the bills. It will probably be some little time before you get the check for the Packard stock as the Certificate has to go in and clear and all before it is paid for. Then it goes to Kleinkopf and then on to the bank. So don't worry about it. I saw by the paper about George G being in England and am not surprised that he is a 1st. You know sometimes they do have to merit a promotion before they get it. Yesterday, Ted (my roommate) took me for a car ride with his wife and two children. We went through Yipsilanti where the big Bomber plant is located. It is immense. Then stopped at an ice cream store & had a cone. It was the little boy's second birthday. Yes, it was OK to take out the policy. Who is the agent? I went to church this morning and enclose the program. It is a magnificent church and so beautiful inside. Also, it was a wonderful sermon. Ted had gone with his family to church, so I went alone. He stays here at night - every night. I have been detailed as Library Monitor for our class for next week. So that is a lot more extra worry and duty. Maybe I'll soon get them all done so far as I am concerned. Hope so. Friday, we went on about a five mile hike. They don't bother me for I'm used to them, but it really gets some of the boys down. Also had our pictures taken, both as
