Burlington April 1, 1943 My Dearest: - Received your letter telling me you had received the chicken and glad to know it was still O.K. I was scared to death it would spoil. Glad you liked it. This has been a pretty nice day, but pretty windy. March is over now so maybe we will get some good weather. It is pretty cold at nights yet. It froze ice last nite. I have had a very busy day today. I had over $20.00. I intended to get to the bank today to pay the note and return the note extension papers and get your receipt, but didn't make it. I will try it again tomorrow. Glad you made so good on your radio corp stock. Maybe we will keep on, until we get out of debt. Wouldn't that be a grand & glorious feeling? Ruthie is still cleaning house. She is working in the basement now. Boy! was it ever smoked? I will be so glad to get it cleaned up once more. The drain in the basement wouldn't carry away, so had to have a plumber come and open it up today. Also replaced some washers
