Burlington, Ia. Mar 24, 1943 Wed. nite 11 P.M. My Dearest:- Just got home and will write you a few lines. First I had better tell you where I have been. I was invited out to dinner by Raymond Wrights'. They took Marie, Kathryn Sage and I up to the Flint Hills for dinner. We had two high balls before dinner, then we had sirloin steaks and wine with our dinner. Then he gave us all $1.00 worth of nickles to play the nickle slot machines and we spent them all & never won a thing. He told us quite a bit about his work and is going to New Orleans to an air base there. That is an embarkation place I guess and so he doesn't expect be there very long, however she is going with him & take the two girls & stay until he has to leave. I guess he leaves the first of the week and she will follow later, just as soon as she can get ready. I think she feels pretty badly about it. Honey, I hope we will be a little more fortunate. I am going to pray that we will be together for a while anyway. That would be hard to take. Well, hope for the best. Honey, I rec'd your letter & the income reports, which I copied in ink onto the other form and then went down to the bank and Frances Flynn notorized it. I made out the checks and sent them both in so that is off my chest. I went & paid your investors Syndicate
