Burlington, IA Mar 22, 1943 My Dearest:- Another day has passed an as usual I have been trying to read the paper & went to sleep in my chair. This has been a rather strenous day. I took Carol to the dentist , as she has been having a lot of toothache and it was one he had filled. He took the filling out of it and said he would try putting some copper filling of some kind in & see what that did. He did that and I took Carol to the shop to wash her hair and the thing turned up & nearly set her crazy, so called Eisenhart up & told him about it & had to take her right back & he blocked it & pulled it. It is one of her back teeth & will be a long time before she gets another one in there. So he advised me to take her to McDermott & have a spacer put in there to keep her teeth from going crooked. I suppose that will cost something too. When he got her tooth out it had a pus pocket at the root. So no wonder it was bothering her. He told Carol to write her puppy & tell him Dr Eisenhart said she was the best girl he ever saw. So she put her tooth under the pillow & is expecting the fairy to take it and leave her some money. Doc said to say hello for him when I wrote to you the next time. He has one son in the Navy & one in the Marines. I guess most families have some one in. Well the butter & fat freezing came as a sort of a blow to most people I guess. I feel rather fortunate. I have almost 3 lbs of butter on hands and 2 lbs lard two 3 lb cans of vegetable shortening. So I will get along all O.K. Business is just a little slack this week. I didn't go to work until two o'clock today & don't expect to go until noon tomorrow. It will give me a little time to do a few things at home. I cleaned the upstairs this morning & will
