Burlington, Ia Mar. 13, 1943 My Dearest:- Just a few lines before I leave for home. It is almost 5:30 & Van's are coming for supper so must get home. I received your letter this afternoon. I guess Van & Marjorie are going to stay until tomorrow afternoon & then leave from here to go home. Sure nice he can come. Mother will be so glad to have him I know. Carol still isn't feeling so very well today. Her tummy hurting her. Guess it isn't anything serious. Lucretia Edwards was taken to the hospital & operated on today & I understand she is full of cancer & they give her a couple months to live. Isn't that terrible? I saw Lyman at noon & he looks like an old man. I feel so sorry about it. I received your N.Y. Life Ins. receipt which I will put in the bank box. Also enclosed is a check from Barnshall. The furnace part hasn't come yet, but he fixed a board over it & isn't so bad as it was. The weather is perfectly
