Burlington, Ia Feb. 21, 1943 My Dearest:- Well another Sunday has passed without you. Sometimes I think the time will never pass - I surely to miss you so much. I tried to take the day as easy as I could. We all went to Sunday school and stayed for church. The preacher had a sermon for the men and there was over200 men in the middle section of the church. He gave a fine sermon. The children stayed downstairs this morning. I think John R is getting big enough to go up now, don't you? After church, we went to the Union Hotel for dinner. We had a lovely turkey dinner. We had roast turkey, dressing, whipped potatoes, cauliflower, hot rolls, pear salad & a sundae for dessert. Oh yes, we had grapefruit cocktail to start with. I enjoyed it very much, but couldn't make a practice of it. It cost me $3.50. I think your mother enjoyed it too. Mrs. Bertchum asked about you too. We took a little ride around town & then came home. When we got home, the girl upstairs told me Claude had called & said he was coming up to see us, so he was here until about 6:30. He has changed work & likes it fine. He checks engines in & out all the time now. He seemed to be in pretty good spirits. Kids are all O.K. They had fun this afternoon. They all had a kite & was flying them. It was
