Feb. 16, 1943 10:45 a.m My Dearest: I am waiting for a hair dye to set, so will write a few lines. I have Marie under the dryer too. She finally got 7 letters from Mac yesterday. The last one was written Feb. 27th. She is afraid he is in that battle at Tinisia. They are really doing some fighting aren't they? It is very cold here today. It is bright and sunny but ten below zero. I walked down and got pretty cold, but sure makes me feel good. The old stoker burned up plenty of coal last night though. Marie said she couldn't get her house warm this morning, but that is one thing, we really keep warm. , Kids are all O.K. John R had me help him with his music last nite. He is doing real well. This morning he got up & put my apron on & helped get breakfast. He can be the best kid if he wants to be. He has been filling the hopper for me every morning. He likes to work. Then he shoveled the snow off the walks last nite. Business is a little slow so far this week, but will probably pick up by the last of the week.
