Burlington Ia. Feb. 3, 1943 Wed 1 o'clock My Dearest:- Received your letter written sunday this morning & so glad to hear from you and to know you are all O.K. Too bad you are having to work so hard. I just imagined that was it. Ruth Wright just called me and told me, she had a letter from Raymond and that he had been to see you & had a nice visit with you, & thought you had a much nicer set up there than he had where he was and was so glad you had gotten in that department. She is going up two weeks from this week end, as he will be through then and will graduate & it is their wedding anniversary & she wants to go. About me coming up this weekend, I will see what I can do about it. It is so cold now, I don't see how I could leave the furnace, as I have been having a heck of a time with it [gassing?] so much. There is a piece broken on the pipe that leads from the stoker to the furnace. Don't it beat the dutch? I look just like a nigger most of the time. If it moderates I might be able to get someone to help out & come. I will see what tomorrow brings first and will wire you if I do come. If you don't hear
