Burlington, IA Feb 7, 1943 Dearest Daddy:- I still persist in writing Jan instead of Feb. It is about 9:30 and we have been home from Fairfield about an hour. We left there at 6:30 and arrived home about 8 o'clock. Oh boy! am I tired? We left here about 10:15 this morning. We took Clarence & Ila & Beverly with us. We arrived in Fairfield about 11:45. The folks were in church yet but soon came home. Dad is better, but looks awfully pale & bad and had a terrible cough. And poor mother is just about worn out. She was trying to take care of him & work too. Went to the hospital to see Dorothy. She looked bad, but is getting along all O.K. We took her a Jonquil plant. It was real pretty. I guess she will have to be in the hospital about a week or ten days yet. She was awfully glad we came. Mon nite 5:30 pm I went sleep trying to write to you last night and gave it up & went to bed. I really was tired. I came to work at 11 o'clock this morning and am just through. I gave Veda a permanent today. I brought the car down this morning to get the tires checked. I needed some gasoline too, so will get it filled up while I have it down. This has been a beautiful day. It is just like spring
