Burlington IA Feb., 10, 1943 My Dearest:- Your letter of the 8th came this morning, so you see what good mail service we get here. It sure is a lot better. Had quite a surprise this morning again. It is trying to spit snow & is very cold & windy. Just when we think spring is just around the corner. I knew that is what it would do, I have Mrs. Oliver Reilly under the dryer now. It is the first time I have ever had her. She seems very nice. Do you know her? Gladys just called long distance to see how we all were. She is having quite a time with her arms. They say it is rhuemetism. She was going to try some kid of a new treatment for it today. She doesn't want to have her teeth pulled and I don't blame her. That darned Sam ought to taker her & take care of her. It sounds like you are going to be plenty busy with your new job as platoon Sgt. So they make you turn out the lights at 10:45? How do you get your studying done? I imagine ou will have plenty to do. I am going to take my irons home and give your mother a shampoo & Marcel tonight. She hasn't had her hair washed for a month or more.
