Burlington, Ia Feb. 12, 1943 My Dear Daddy:- As usual, it is very late and so will have to speed along. I have been asleep in the chair. It makes me so mad to do that. I had a very good day at the shop. I took in around $23.00 today. I got home at 6:30 tonight. Kids were all excited reading their valentines. They all got around 25. They are all three going down to the church for a sunday school party tomorrow. John R wants to go to the Y.M. in the morning & Carol is invited to a Valentine party at a little girls house. So they are going to have a pretty big saturday. Your mother and I listened to the presidents speech tonight, Did you hear it? I thought it was very good and it sounds like they mean business. I believe they will go into it hot and heavy by spring. I still have my Cold & such a terrible Cough. I do wish I could shake that off, as it wears me out. Two of the men upstairs are having a vacation next week and so they pd. their rent & left until a week from sunday. I need your Banker's Life receipt and I will put it in the bank box. I am glad you are getting along so well at school
