Burlington, In Jan. 27, 1943 Wed. nite 10:30 My Dearest - I seem to be out of stationary so will just write on the back of this letter from Lowell Fuller. I missed writing to you last nite, as I worked at the shop and when I got home, I was dead tired and went to sleep in the chair. Honey, I am so tired all the time I can hardly stand it, but there is nothing else to do, I am still trying to work half days at the shop & the rest of the time at home. Business at the shop has been pretty punk this week. So I could get along very well, I just feel like I have to work, until we get the taxes paid and the license for the car too. I will see to it tomorrow or friday. Well, I got another letter from the Rent Office today telling me, from Jan. 26 I should be charging $12.50 a week. I am supposed to send the other paper back in to them. The dirty devils. I would like to tell them a few things. Cleo Gobeline has certainly made himself some enemies. He is a regular smart alec. Do you suppose they had rec'd your letter before this paper was sent out? I am going to find out first before I send the paper in. I won a ticket to the show at the Palace starting Jan. 30. The show is Geo. Washington slept here. Ca you imagine me doing that? They put your name somewhere in the Want Adds & if you find yours there you get a ticket. Ruth was over today & got all of her stuff. Joe brought the trailer & took everything. She looks real good I think. She isn't doing a thing she says. She claims she has gained 2 lbs since sunday. It has been a lovely day today. The sun was nice and bright and thawed quite a bit of the ice & snow off, but there is plenty yet. Glad you are having nice warm weather there. You will probably notice a big change when you get to Michigan. When do you leave? Where do you want me to send your mail? I suppose they will send it to you from there. Are you going by train or car? Kids are all pretty good only John R has a pretty bad cold in the head. Your mother seems quite a bit better I think. Hope we have no more sickness this winter. What did you think of the Conference in Casablanca? Don't you think that will mean a long hard war ahead yet? I guess Ed Kinyon leaves a week from tomorrow. I am having them all here for supper Sun nite, as a farewell party. Wish you could be here. Honey, I surely wish we could be together. Maybe we can after you get through those ten weeks. Goodnight Hugs & Kisses Mommie
