Burlington, Ia Jan., 22, 1943 Fri. 6:15 pm My Dearest:- Please excuse me if I use a pencil tonight. I am just finished work & had my hair washed & sitting under the dryer. I rec'd two letters from you today, and guess you haven't rec'd the rent papers yet. If you think we should protest, please send them back to me immediately. I went over today & asked them for an extended time on it and went to the red headed girl at the desk (I always forget her name) She said to tell you hello - She is always very nice to me & very friendly. She went over & asked Gabeline & he was rather nasty about it. He said, why does he have to see about it when she is doing the renting? This girl told him, because you was a lawyer & took care of these things for me so they are going to see about it. Whitney Nishaus told me they had extended time for people & could be done. So don't know how it will come out. It makes me so darned mad. I talked to Dr. Aid & he said they couldn't find very much wrong with Ruth, that it was nervous exhaustion They are keeping her a few more days at the hospital & then she is supposed to go home & stay the rest of the winter & he told her she could never do any hard work again. Just light work. So she told me yesterday she couldn't come back. I suppose the Phillips & Wards
