Burlington, IA Jan. 10, 1943 6:30 P.M. My Dearest, Just a few lines before Claude leaves to go to the train. He came up this afternoon to see your mother and is going back on the 7 o'clock bus. I think she is some better. She is eating a little now. I was worried about her last nite. She just threw up & was so sick at her stomache. I think she has had the flu. Ruth is still sick in bed. She has been in bed all day long. She told me last nite she was quitting as she just couldn't stand the work. She does look terrible. Don't know what to do. What do you suggest? After I got the kids to bed last nite, I washed & today I cleaned the whole house over. The girls that are taking the apartment moved some things in, too so I have worked the live long day. Do you think I should stay home myself or get someone to come in? Honey, I got a letter from Bev Blakely wanting me to find the Pumphrey Abstract as the Kolkmans want to make final payment on their property so Heston called Bev & asked about the abstract. I went up in the attic & looked & couldn't find anything but
