Burlington, Ia Jan., 7, 1942 Fri 9 P.M. Dearest Daddy:- I have been worried all day about you, and have been looking for a telegram any minute. I sure hope you haven't had some car trouble. It has been another snowy day and so cloudy. I am in hopes you run out of the snow before you had gone far. It just seems like a dream that you have even been here. The time went so fast. There was so many things I wanted to do when you was here but didn't do any of them. Your Mother is quite sick with pleurisy. I had the doctor for her this morning. Dr. Aid was out of town, so I had Voight. He was afraid of pnemonia, but she is feeling quite a bit better tonight. It sure scared me. Ruth came back, but is still grunting around. She has the toothache yet. So she is going down to the Dr. in the morning. I sure had a heck of a day yesterday. I cleaned the cellar and then took the kids down to dancing school. I got to watch them. I think they are doing real well. When they have the music to dance to, they do so much better. They practiced before they went to be tonight. John R. came down & met the kids at the dancing school & brought them home & I went to work at 5:15 & worked until 10 o'clock was I even tired? Ruth didn't come
