The Judge Advocate General's School Ann Arbor, Michigan Feb. 4, 1943 Dearest Dorothea: I don't know in what mysterious way the mail system works - but today I got two letters from you - one dated Jan 28th enclosing the 2 Radio Corporation checks - and one dated Jan 29th. Yesterday, I got the one dated Jan 31st and the day before that the one dated Jan 27th. Guess no reason to try to figure it out - so long as I get them. Enclosed herewith find the two checks endorsed so you can use them. Be sure and hang on to as much of this as you can for we will surely need it when the war is over. I would like to build up a cash reserve of $500.00, if possible. Then if we needed some ready money, we would have it. I've listed all the stocks at prices to sell and as soon as they can be sold at those prices Lowell will sell them and turn the money to the bank. Vince can apply it on the note until that is paid and then we can handle the rest of it ourselves. What do you think of that idea? Glad you got the car license OK. Also to know that Van is getting along OK and can have Marjorie and the family out there with him. I'm sorry my letters all bunched up on you and just when I was telling you about leaving for here, too. It was surely fortunate I phoned you that night, wasn't it? I didn't drive scarcely any after night. And do you know how much it cost me to drive up here?
