$8.23 to drive about 650 miles. That's pretty cheap, isn't it? I put the old wreck in a garage at $2.00 per month and drained the radiator and won't have to worry about it for a while now. I think the license is good until April 1st. Enclosed is a letter I received from Tom Martin. I wrote him and thanked him for his help on this thing for it has probably been the thing that put my transfer across. Yes, I guess you'll just have to reduce the rent in the apartment. Beats the devil, but we'll figure it out somehow. Looks like they want to force all civilian enterprise out and all government interprise in. Guess you did OK to rent the back bed room and almost makes up the reduced rent. Yes, it is OK for you to stay home with the kids. Part time, anyway. You'll probably have to cut down some on the new cloths you buy them - they will have to take better care of them and make them last longer and fewer toys, etc But the essentials - they can have - of course. Just watch the corners and ask yourself before you buy anything: Do I need this? Can I get along just as well without it? Glad Mother is getting along so well with the kids. It is OK if she will refrain from doing any hard work and to rest every opportunity she can. Surely hate to think of John R having to wear glasses Be sure and have him carry a case and take them off and put in the case when he is not using them. Put his name in the case - adhesive plaster - so if he losses it, they can return it - put phone # on. Love & kisses to all - Daddy
