Judge Advocate General's School Ann Arbor, Mich. Feb. 2, 1943 Dearest Dorothea: Well, Here I am in Ann Arbor- ready to do some more schooling. It would look as though one ought to get so smart pretty soon that they could do most anything without going to school anymore, doesn't it? I'll tell you some about my trip for I know you will appreciate it. I got one day of leave--Saturday. So I could have left on Friday but didn't get everything done until very late Friday night and went to bed about 2:00PM and up at 5:30 and finished packing and loaded up and ate breakfast. About 8:00 I started out. The sun started to shine although it was pretty cold. I had a pretty bad sinus headache and was blowing lots of discharge from my nose. I drove along steadily and had some dinner and was leaving Murphysboro when it started to snow. But didn't do much although I
