Camp Forrest Jan. 25, 1943 Dearest: We had a very bad sleet storm last night and it is very bad today. The ground is all covered with ice and walking is dangerous. In addition to that, it is very cold and the weather forecast tonight (by special permission of the War Department) is to expect a cold spell between 10 and 20 degrees below zero. There was a USO show tonight and I went. It was a group of ballet dancers - a four person tap and acrobatic dance team - a slight of hand performer - a man & woman dance team and the Master of Ceremonies and his sister doing some silly clowning. It was pretty good. While the show was going on, it just poured down rain. I got my foot soaking wet on the way home when I stepped in a mud puddle in the walk.
