Camp Forrest, Tennessee Jan. 23, 1943 Dearest Dorothea: We are having beautiful weather here - so balmy and warm that it is like spring. Surely am surprised at it in January. But I guess the weather is like that here. We still have our generals - about 15 brigadier generals, 3 colonels and 5 majors. They are here for an inspection of the Ranger School. Then this morning - about 11:30 Lt. General Leslie J. McNair - Commanding General of the Army Ground Forces came with 12 staff officers from the War Department. They flew in to the airport and came over here by car. I didn't get to see them. My cold still hangs on though it is much better. Guess it will take a little time to clear throw it off. I don't remember whether I told you in
