80th Infantry Division Camp Forrest, Tennessee Division Surgeon's Office Sunday, Dec. 20, 1942 Dearest: You can see by the spots on this paper that I have had it for a few days. I got it to write you a letter on. It is put out by the Chaplain's office. First of it I've seen. Well it has been kinda gray all day today. We had fried chicken for dinner and was pretty good except not too much of it. Then this afternoon I went to the show. It was "White Cargo" with Hedy Lemarr. Not so very hot. Then went to the Officers Club for a bite and to church. I got your letter of the 15th which must have been the one to go back for postage. I'm just as thrilled to be coming home as you are to have me. But I can see already that it is going to be a pretty short time there. It has been exactly three months today since you saw me last - Sept 20th. I still think of what a good time we had when you were here. I do hope you can rent the apartment. It is really a nice one. I went to Tullahoma tonight to the Methodist Church. They had a children's day or Christmas program. It was very short but very nice. One girl read the skit and the children acted it out. They were dressed in costume. Then there was some common singing and it was over. We weren't in the Soldier's Lounge of the ME Church
