Burlington, IA June, 17, 1942 My Dearest: Rec'd two letters from you today _ so glad to get them. I has been another scorcher today, and as usual, had a very busy day. Had over $17.00 Mrs. [Chilgren?] was in and asked all about you + your work. The funeral is at 2 o'clock sunday afternoon at Prughs Chapel and I have to drive the car for part of the family. wish it was over. Honey, I don't know how I can come down for a couple of weeks yet, as Nettie will be gone on her vacation another week and then Blanche will take hers. Then maybe right after that I could take the train + come down. I just don't think I would want to drive down in such hot weather of course if you could find something without me, then it would [save?] quite a bit. We drove out to see [Grieael's?] a little bit tonite. They were real busy at the stand. Mrs [Grieal?] has been about sick. He leg is all swollen. I guess it is rhuemetism. Don finished his ex + seemed to be glad they were off his chest. He had a girl from the school to type them for him + it took her two days. He talked to [Newell?] + he is trying to help him on finding someone for him to sit in with.
