Dearest Daddy (Burlington, [Sa] May 30, 1942; sat. morn 6 o'clock): I just got up and will write a few [lines?]. I was too tired to write last nite. I got home about 9:30 and ate supper & went right to bed. I still feel tired, but have to go down & give Elma her permanent & tint. I think she is going to be married. I am going to start to pack some things this afternoon. Ruth is staying to help me. I will get the trunk down and will start putting things in. I am so afraid I will forget something. I called Ben [illegible] yesterday and he said he hadn't been able to get a tire for me at all. He was going to keep trying & if he found one to call me this week. He said he wouldn't be afraid to start out with just the one spare though. He thought it was perfectly safe. It is very warm today. It is cloudy & looks like rain. Wouldn't care if it did. So far we haven't had to water the grass yet. We have been very lucky. I had to advertise the room for three nights again. Didn't have any luck at all the other time. I sure wish I [lived?] [illegible] them. I need the money so badly. However, I paid [electric?] bill yesterday which was [$]10.40 and yours and [Carols?] [illegible]. I gave Mrs. Lund [illegible] a permanent this week & had to put that in myself so I am getting my [illegible] pretty well cut down. Won't have to pay much. I talked to Marie last night & [illegible] went to Omaha this week & weighed in at [9.15?] lbs. I guess the [illegible] [illegible] has just
