Burlington (illegible) May, 19, 1942 11:30 PM. My Dearest:- It is getting late, but will write a few lines with the pencil. I worked until tew thirty tonight. Had a big day, and am pretty tired. I gave there permanents besides the other work I did. I think in three weeks time, I will be ready for a vacation all right. I think I will have them all permanent [illegible] by that time. I'll need the money, for I am just about busted again & have $11.80 at Kleins & the garage bill, which will be around $20.00 I think. It is surely cold here. It rained again & has been cloudy all day & real chilly. Still have a fire. I wonder if we are even going to have summer? Has it been chilly there? I didn't get a letter from you today but will probably get two tomorrow. Honey, I am counting the days until we will be coming east. Carol said this morning. I wish this was the day we were going to see daddy. John R & Carol are anxious to go. Clifford just hates to ride, because he says it makes him sick. What do you think of the war situation now? Looks a little better doesn't it? I see where more troops landed
