Burlington, Ia, May, 15, 1942 11:30 PM. My Dear Daddy: - Just got home from the banquet of the Homebuilders Class. It was a very nice banquet, and had about 175 there. Had a nice dinner also. They invited different people of the church to come, on account of the speaker. Dr [Studgen?] from Boston gave the address, and he was wonderful. I have never heard a speaker I liked as well. He could have talked another hour and no one would have said a word. They had to pay him 50.00 so they took up a free will [illegible] at the close. Don't know how they came out. Maxine + Mac stopped down at the shop + took me with them + I had a place at the speaker's table if you please. Betty Fritz + I sat together. Herb got in before the thing was over. Came in [illegible] [Zephew?]. We went up McBride after the dinner and stay a while + had root beer + popcorn. Then Marion + Ed brought me home. Didn't get any letter from you today but hope to get one tomorrow. I know how busy you are. I had a fairly busy day too. And then to finish off, I had a scrap with Blanche. I had to tell her off again. She is just a jealous old maid. What was wrong was, I have been [illegible] all my customers. I can't take care of another [illegible]
