Burlington, Ia, May 14, 1942 11 P.M. Dearest Daddy: Had to work tonight and just got home a few minutes ago. I wore my blue [suit?] down this morning and when I came home tonight I nearly froze. If it [clears?] off tonight, it will frost. I didn't sleep so well last nite, but I had 125 of those curlers on my head + it hurt me whenever I turned over. It is real pretty but don't know whether it is tight enough to last or not. Have to wait + see I guess. I left it up until twelve o'clock today. I had a very busy day today. Gave two $[9.05 permanents?] besides my other work. Dee Lewis Called me this morning + he had seen [Cocherel?] this morning + he said there wasn't any chance of getting a new tire + Dee suggested Schaunbergs' for second hand tires. He though I should carry an extra tire along for a spare + he thought they were as honest as anyone. What do you think about it? Do you think I should take another tire along? One of my customer's was in today, who live in Philadelphia + they had just driven back from there + she told me the gas rationing didn't start until they got to Harrisburg. Is that on this side or the other side of [Carlisle?]? I haven't gotten my car yet. It is still down
