[June 6, 1918] Dear Bess. Well I have just arisen and taken my morning bath and as it is not yet mess time I will write and try to answer some of your questions. I went down to Hawkeye on the freight and as there were some things to be talked over I went to Walsh's After breakfast we went up town and I suppose that my uniform was what made me conspicuous as I am sure that nothing else was.
