[July 13, 1918] Dear Bess. I have not yet heard how soon we will have a unit for base hospital picked out of this place but have been expecting it any time I have all my things except a compass and will get that Monday. Got a rain coat more blankets and other clothes While I was on duty 11th July there was a lightning hit the guard house and killed 2 and burned 7 men whom I cared for. The 7 recovered
