[August 13, 1918] Base Hospt No 85 Ft. Sill Okla My Dearest Bess, Well we arrived here at this place this after noon and am now sitting on my bed or mattress rather. This is about 200 miles north of Ft. Worth and is up in the hills. We go out here on the street car every 30 minutes are not allowed to go to town except on Friday & Saturday nights. The camp is about 3 miles out of Lawton a town of 8 or ten thousand. I saw lots of Indians on the street. They are queer people. We met the fellows here and they seem to be a nice lot of fellows. I like the C. O. (Commanding Officer) very much. He made a little
