[August 26, 1918] My Dearest Bess: I am writing this down in the ward on this Sunday morning. It is fairly cool and decent in the fore noons here but in the afternoons or evenings as the southerners call them it surely gets hot. I was greatly pleased with the watch both on account of its usefulness and other reasons especially the latter. I find myself looking at it many times during the day though and it always makes me think of you. I don't think of much of any thing else though any way. I think your cartoon was rather unkind though. In regard to Helens teeth I am of the opinion from talking to the dental men I have met
