Aug 29th 1918. My Dearest Bess: I suppose I really ought to leave this red dust on the writing paper so you could get a good idea of the kind of thing we have to contend with in keeping clean. It sifts in every where. Well I took a walk up to the hills again last night and watched pistol practice. Also listened to the line of talk of those fellows which was more entertaining although don't think it would for a social affair. I ran across a veternary that knew Othmar Luce here. I will tell you about it some time. I have no idea where Finch is and unless I knew his organization I couldn't find him.
