March, 24, 1942 Dear Mother and Dad: I have had four nice letters from you since I wrote last they date from the 12th to the 20th if I can make out the dates on the post marks. It always seems good to hear from you. I've been quite fortunate I'm getting letters I got a lovely one from Irma the other day. Jimmy was at our wardens meeting. Mrs Synch, Mrs Antes, "[Reagins Piligy?]", Breck, Bob, Adeline have all written me. It seems good to have your name called at mail call. I like this place all right except for the wind blowing and dust. The climate is fine cool nights and warm days, sun shiny and clear. I spent Sunday in town there are a few trees which are leafing out nicely the grass is green, forsythia (that yellow stuff?) and peach trees or "[illegible]" you know that pink blossom are very pretty. Had a swell dinner, shrimp cocktail, excellent steak and everything. Made me think of Sunday dinner at home at the Rex. Spent the evening with Agnes had a very nice time. I'm glad if the corn is going out well I owed Earl for 14 bn of ear corn @ about 60¢ per bn if he just took one bushel Dad can pay
