April 3, 1943 Tucson, Arizona Dear Dad and Mom: Havent left this place yet, this afternoon Im guarding the planes along with three other fellows. It isnt much of a job we are all sitting in a tent together and writing letters. About all it amounts to is being out here. The fellows who went by train pulled out already and I surely dont envy them their ride. One of the guys went out on a pass last evening and didn't get back in time. now he is still here but he can go with another squadron. Boy its hot again down here today Im afraid when we move we will really shiver some. We heard it was down to zero up where we are moving and that will be an awful change. It surely cant last so long tho thats one consolation.
