April 10, 1942 Dear Folks: Today is pay day, expect to be called any time to go get it. Thanks a lot for the money I was flat broken when I got it. I am sorry to hear of Herb Rents death I just sent him a card a few days ago. I sent one to Marilyn Hahls too. You will be disapointed in "To be or not to Be" I think, at least I was. I havent see How green is my Valley. I missed it before. I should like to see it very much. I saw Wallace Bury in One Bugle Call" the other evening it was good. I get a kick out of seeing them train the rookies on the screen it is really true to life. Some of the dumb stunts they pull & the way the sergeants sound is the same as here. Next time you send me anything Mom, put in another of those lead pencils any one will do. You know an Eversharp one. Propelling, mispelling etc. I lost the one Dane & Harry gave me. Sent it to the cleaners in my shirt. I guess our rains are over for a while it is as dry as can be already. I don't believe I caught cold unless something develops later on.
