August 16, 1942 Wendover, Utah Dear Dad & Mom: Got three letters from you yesterday including the one from Jimmie. Got the one from Adeline too. If you would enjoy it I would surely go up to Minneapolis it isnt too far. So you went to the Landas hope you sold the barn. Gee I surely hope it doesnt frost for a month as I imagine the corn is just a little backward this year with all the rain and cool weather it would be awful not to get a good crop when prices are so good. The nights here make make me think of fall as they are so sharp but when yhr sun comes up you soon forget that. It would be nice to have Ann in for a day on tues she is such a nice little child and it would probably be a real event for her I cant imagine a four year old child learning to milk a cow but the dutch start them in early. Jimmie promised me a pup when i get home again if you approved. he says they are nice little dogs [scratched out word] and a lot of fun. I told him I was really going to remember it. Or maybe you should have one before I get back. Ronny was on a vacation up in maine visiting a friend he has learned to read which relieved Jimmy greatly. ish I would be trasferred back east during my travelling around. How does dickey like it in West Unions again? Hasn't he grown tho? Ill bet he can tell Huey lots of
