Carl Miller Jim Ford August 20, 1942 Wendover, Utah Dear Dad & Mom, Have just been too busy to write the past three days. It seems it is always that way, you almost loaf after days and then you are rushed to death. We got some ships which had been at Tucson and were pretty badly worn, we have been replacing the nav gear, generators, starters and various small things about them. Our equipment has been quite limited which makes the work go slower. Also we had to replace all the tires, wish I had Clifford S. & Leo to help, they just came to my chin and are 16 ply even the tubes make a pretty good lift. In a very short time I should know whether I am coming any closer to home or not. we hear lots of wild rumors but i still think it will be about three hundred miles from home many are going to try and get furloughs at our next station as there are lots of middle westerners who wont be too far from home. We are keeping ships in the air every hour of the day training pilots and combat crews. Ive
