Sept. 10, 1942. Wendover, Utah Dear Dad & Mom: Well it's 2:30 PM and I've already had supper, it certainly seems funny this new schedule. Have shaved and showered and washed some clothes during my relaxation period. This is a joke this relaxation period thats when you clean up the barrack and do all the necessary chores. Just looked at a book a friend of mine just received it is the combined cartoons of that Little "Private Berger" who appears in the Colliers or Post. It is very funny some I had seen but others are new ones, they are especially amusing I think to a soldier because every detail in the surroundings is just right. Barracks bags at the foot of the bed, old #10 fruit cans on the posts for cigarette butts, the way the beds are made "white collar" for inspections and other little things which are just the way we have them. The show last night was good it was sponsored by the U.S.O. at the boxing ring it featured the Strand twins that I hadn't hear for so long they were very funny I get a kick out of the droll one they look very much alike. There was a puppeteer very good, a girl who did impersonations, excellent, a woman singer, didn't much care for her and six girls who danced, they too were good. These shows are to be put on every three weeks at each camp thru out the country and furnished by the U.S.O. Tonight is the camel caravan which I thought was last night when I went. I think I will go but there is tap we will have a bed check this evening at 6:15. P.M. We have to get some sleep sometime and
